Marin Farmer’s Market

Although large and well established, the Marin Farmer’s Market lacks a permanent home to support the many educational programs offered in conjunction with the farm stands. With input from the farmers, the board of directors, and city officials we provided a richly developed conceptual design that includes classrooms, meeting rooms, a demonstration garden, a general store, retail spaces (café, bakery, butcher), and restaurant. The design features a series of buildings linked by an exterior loggia and opening out onto the market, event and garden areas.

The design, inspired by the beautiful agrarian buildings of West Marin County, features simple elegant forms and rustic finishes of wood, canvas, steel and glass.

Sheltered from the wind and noise by the buildings, the inner yard is filled with places to encourage gathering, eating, learning and lingering.
