Moshav CoHousing

The Berkeley Moshav is a co-housing community that supports and facilitates Jewish life. The 39-unit building provides the structure for a new community developed by and for the occupants. The building program was developed in a series of workshops with the Moshav members. The resulting design promotes interaction through a series of casual and formal gathering areas, supports inter-generational living with playrooms and enhanced accessibility, and recognizes the importance of Jewish ritual with a Havdalah Terrace and both standard and kosher kitchen facilities. The 53,000 square foot project broke ground in July 2025.

Our inspiration for this co-housing project came directly from those who will inhabit it. We worked closely with the Moshav community members and co-housing consultant, Katie McCamant of CoHousing Solutions to facilitate the community-based design process.
